India continued its impressive campaign at CWG 2026, with athletes delivering strong performances across multiple disciplines and keeping the country’s medal ambitions alive. From weightlifting and boxing to athletics and swimming, several Indian competitors either secured medals or booked places in crucial finals, adding to the nation’s growing momentum at the Commonwealth Games.

Raja Muthupandi Wins Weightlifting Silver

One of India’s standout performances came in weightlifting, where Raja Muthupandi claimed the silver medal after an impressive display of strength and consistency. Siwach won the bout by a 4-1 split decision, controlling the contest from the opening rounds with aggressive yet composed boxing. His victory keeps India’s hopes alive in the boxing competition, with just one more win separating him from a guaranteed medal position.

Ankush Advances in Men’s 80kg Boxing

India enjoyed further success in boxing as Ankush also progressed to the quarterfinals in the men’s 80kg category.

He registered a commanding 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Jalan Jaan in the Round of 16, producing a disciplined performance throughout the contest. The convincing win places him among the remaining contenders for a medal in his weight class.

Murali Sreeshankar and Lokesh Sathyanathan Qualify for Long Jump Final

India’s athletics team also had a productive day, with two long jumpers securing places in the men’s final.

Murali Sreeshankar comfortably cleared the qualification round with a best jump of 8.01 meters, earning his place in the medal round. Having consistently performed at major international competitions, Sreeshankar will be one of India’s leading medal hopes in athletics.

Joining him in the final is Lokesh Sathyanathan, who produced a best jump of 7.77 meters during the qualification stage. Competing in Group B, Lokesh finished fourth in his group and seventh overall, which was enough to book his place in the final.

In track and field, Tejas Shirse secured a place in the men’s 110-meter hurdles final after finishing third in his qualifying heat.

He clocked 13.76 seconds, earning one of the eight available spots in the final. With the title race approaching, Tejas will look to produce his best performance when he lines up against the Commonwealth’s top hurdlers.

Swatik Patil Reaches Para Swimming Final

India’s para-swimming campaign also received a boost as Swatik Patil qualified for the final of the men’s 100-meter breaststroke SB9 event.

Patil finished fourth in his heat with a timing of 1 minute 15.85 seconds, ranking sixth overall to secure a place in the final. He now has an opportunity to compete for a Commonwealth medal in the medal race.
