Investigators Examine Alleged Marriage Records and Digital Evidence in Expanding Murder Investigation
The Siya Goyal case has taken a significant turn after investigators began examining claims that the 20-year-old woman had allegedly entered into a secret marriage with her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, several months before the death of her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, police are verifying whether Goyal and Chaudhary legally registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act earlier this year. If confirmed, the alleged marriage could become an important part of the ongoing investigation into the death of Agarwal, who died after falling from a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune on June 18.
Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the existence of the marriage certificate, and the inquiry remains in progress.
Police Verify Reports of Secret Marriage
Investigators are examining records to determine whether Goyal and Chaudhary completed a marriage registration around four months before the incident. The alleged registration reportedly took place after Goyal’s engagement to Pune-based businessman Ketan Agarwal in February.
Police sources said officials are checking whether all legal procedures required under the Special Marriage Act were followed. The outcome of this verification may help investigators establish a clearer timeline of events leading up to the incident.
As part of the inquiry, officers are also questioning two of Goyal’s college friends who are believed to have signed as witnesses during the alleged marriage registration. Their statements are expected to assist investigators in confirming the authenticity of the claims.
Digital Evidence Under Examination
The investigation has also expanded into digital evidence. Technical experts are reportedly attempting to recover deleted photographs from a private Instagram account believed to belong to the accused couple.
According to sources, the deleted images may have shown Goyal and Chaudhary wearing wedding garlands, which investigators believe could support claims that the two had participated in a marriage ceremony.
Police have not publicly confirmed the contents of the recovered data, and forensic analysis is continuing.
Wedding Preparations May Have Triggered Events, Investigators Believe
Investigators are also looking into whether preparations for Goyal’s planned wedding to Ketan Agarwal may have accelerated the alleged conspiracy.
Sources claim Agarwal’s family had recently requested Goyal’s personal documents as arrangements were underway for a destination wedding in Udaipur scheduled for November. Police are examining whether these developments increased pressure on the accused, leading to the alleged execution of the murder plan.
Financial investigators are additionally reviewing Chaudhary’s bank transactions to determine whether any payments were made in connection with the reported marriage registration. Authorities are checking whether a third party was involved in expediting legal procedures, though no official conclusions have been announced.
Background of the Pune Fort Death Case
Ketan Agarwal, a 25-year-old businessman from Pune, reportedly met Siya Goyal through a family-arranged match. The couple became engaged earlier this year, and their families had begun making extensive preparations for their wedding.
On June 18, Agarwal died after falling from a cliff at Lohagad Fort, a popular tourist destination near Pune. While the incident initially appeared to be an accidental fall, investigators later alleged that it was part of a planned conspiracy.
Police claim Chaudhary followed Goyal and Agarwal to the fort and played a role in carrying out the alleged murder. Following the investigation, both Goyal and Chaudhary were arrested and later remanded to judicial custody.
Investigation Continues
The Siya Goyal case remains under active investigation as police continue to examine documentary records, digital evidence, witness statements, and financial transactions.
Officials have not yet filed any final conclusions regarding the alleged secret marriage, and the claims are still being verified through official records and forensic analysis. Authorities are expected to rely on the evidence collected during the investigation before presenting their findings before the court.
Both accused remain in judicial custody while the legal process continues. Further developments are expected as investigators complete the verification of key documents and electronic evidence connected to the case.
