Mahendragarh, September 26, 2026: A one-day seminar dedicated to the Saraswati-Sindhu Civilization was organized by the Centre for Indian Knowledge Tradition at the Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, bringing together historians, archaeologists and scholars to discuss recent discoveries and the wider significance of India’s ancient cultural heritage.

The seminar examined several aspects of the Saraswati-Sindhu Civilization, including recent archaeological investigations, discoveries from Rakhigarhi and other important sites, and the continuing relevance of the Indian Knowledge Tradition. Speakers also discussed the importance of examining India’s history through detailed research and evidence-based academic study.

Among the prominent speakers were Dr. Narendra Parmar, Deputy Director in the Department of Archaeology, Government of Haryana; Professor Keshav Mishra, historian and professor at Banaras Hindu University; and renowned archaeologist Professor Jeevan Kharakwal.

New Rakhigarhi Findings Bring Fresh Attention to Ancient India

Dr. Narendra Parmar presented photographs and a PowerPoint presentation covering recent archaeological findings from Rakhigarhi and other excavation sites. He explained how discoveries from these locations are contributing to a deeper understanding of ancient communities, their cultural practices and the historical development of the Indian subcontinent.

According to Dr. Parmar, archaeological evidence emerging from these sites is opening new avenues for researchers studying the continuity and character of ancient Indian civilization. He said that fresh discoveries are encouraging scholars to revisit some long-established interpretations of Indian history.

Describing ancient Indian civilization as one of the world’s richest civilizational traditions, Dr. Parmar stressed the importance of expanding archaeological research and encouraging detailed academic investigation into the subject.

Rakhigarhi has particular importance in discussions surrounding the Saraswati-Sindhu Civilization because archaeological work at the site has produced evidence that helps researchers examine settlement patterns, material culture and the lives of people who lived in the region thousands of years ago.

Archaeologist Jeevan Kharakwal Discusses Recent Research

Professor Jeevan Kharakwal presented the results of his recent archaeological research and field investigations. Using photographs to explain his work, he highlighted the role of archaeological evidence in reconstructing the social, cultural and historical dimensions of ancient civilizations.

His presentation focused on discoveries made through archaeological exploration and the information such evidence can provide about ancient societies. The discussion underlined the importance of field research and careful examination of archaeological remains when studying India’s early history.

Indian Knowledge Tradition and Its Contemporary Relevance

Professor Keshav Mishra of Banaras Hindu University addressed the contemporary relevance of the Indian Knowledge Tradition. He emphasized that India’s intellectual and cultural traditions remain important subjects of study in the modern era.

He called attention to the need for systematic study, preservation and wider dissemination of knowledge associated with India’s historical traditions. According to the discussion, a deeper understanding of these traditions can provide greater insight into Indian society, culture and the country’s intellectual heritage.

The seminar therefore connected archaeological research on ancient civilization with broader questions concerning the preservation and interpretation of India’s knowledge traditions.

CUH Vice-Chancellor Calls for Scientific Research

Central University of Haryana Vice-Chancellor Professor Tankeshwar Kumar delivered the presidential address and appreciated the activities being carried out by the Centre for Indian Knowledge Tradition.

Professor Kumar further stressed the importance of preserving, developing and academically studying India’s knowledge heritage.
